Fried Gnocchi with Sage

I think this picture says it all. You are gonna have to try this fried gnocchi with sage recipe. It is quite addictive, so be warned. The good thing is that it won’t easily crowd out more nutrient-dense foods, because although it is fairly easy to make it does require some time. Alternatively, you could use store-bought gnocchi for a quicker meal.

It is the perfect treat meal that you might have missed if you are grain free or cannot tolerate nightshade vegetables. This gnocchi recipe is made from sweet potatoes and therefore can be tolerated by people that cannot have nightshades, specifically potatoes. It is also grain free and therefore gluten free.

Tips on How to Make this Recipe

Simply follow my sweet potato gnocchi recipe. Once they are done all you need to do is fry the gnocchi with some fresh sage until golden brown on both sides.

Once the gnocchi are boiled this recipe is super fast to make. If you are making traditional gnocchi with a sauce, make some more dough and form all the gnocchi while you are at it. Store the leftover gnocchi in a glass or stainless steel container in the fridge and simply boil them in some salted water for 1-2 minutes the next day and fry them real quick. That way you will only spend 10 minutes in the kitchen.

Fried Gnocchi with Sage

This irresistible gnocchi recipe is easy to make and is grain and nightshade free. Enjoy with a bowl of salad.
Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes
Servings 2 people

Ingredients

  • gnocchi (use this recipe), or store bought (most store bought gnocchi contain potatoes and regular flour!)
  • 2 Tbsp avocado oil
  • a handful fresh sage (or as much as you desire)
  • sea salt
  • pepper

Instructions

  • Make the gnocchi by following this recipe. Alternatively use store bought ones and boil in lightly salted water for 1-2 minutes or until they are floating on top of the water and drain.
  • In a large pan heat avocado oil over medium heat. Add the gnocchi (make sure they are not watery) and fry until golden brown on both sides. After a few minutes of frying add fresh sage to the pan (as much as you desire). If you have a lot of gnocchi you might have to fry them in batches to not overcrowd the pan. Season with salt and pepper and serve.
  • Enjoy!

I’ve recently discovered avocado oil and tried this recipe today. I love gnocchi anyway. I grow my own herbs and trying to find decent recipes. What can I say? This was absolutely delicious and will definitely be cooking it again. The fried sage was a revelation.

    1. Yvonne, thank you so much for taking the time to comment. That makes me very happy to hear and yay for growing your own herbs!! 🙂
