Halloween Gummies

Did you know that it is super easy to make your own gummies? And way healthier than store-bought that are full of questionable ingredients. It is also such a fun activity that you can do with the whole family or with your friends. To play a little bit with different colors I decided to make two different flavors: Orange and raspberry. They are made with fresh fruit or fruit juice, honey, and gut-healing gelatin powder. That’s how simple it is.

Ingredients

Orange flavor:

  • Orange juice
  • Gelatin powder
  • Honey

Raspberry flavor:

  • Raspberries
  • Coconut milk
  • Water
  • Gelatin powder
  • Vanilla extract
  • Honey

How to Make Halloween Gummies

If you are doing both flavors you can use half of the ingredients each.

Orange flavor

  1. Pour orange juice into a small saucepan. Sprinkle the gelatin powder on top, stir and let it bloom for a minute or so.
  2. Heat the saucepan on medium-low heat until the gelatin has melted. Use a whisk to make sure there are no lumps. Add the honey and mix well.
  3. Pour the mixture into molds and place it in the fridge for about an hour.
  4. Carefully remove the gummies from the molds. I recommend loosening all the edges first so nothing gets stuck.
  5. Enjoy or store in an airtight container on the counter for a few days or in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Raspberry flavor

  1. Place the raspberries, coconut oil, and water in a blender and mix until smooth.
  2. Pour the mixture through a strainer into a small saucepan to get rid of the seeds. Sprinkle the gelatin powder on top, stir and let it bloom for a minute or so.
  3. Heat the saucepan on medium-low heat until the gelatin has melted. Use a whisk to make sure there are no lumps. Add honey and vanilla extract and mix well.
  4. Pour the mixture into molds and place it in the fridge for about an hour.
  5. Carefully remove the gummies from the molds. I recommend loosening all the edges first so nothing gets stuck.
  6. Enjoy or store in an airtight container on the counter for a few days or in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

FAQs

What kind of molds to use:

You can use any molds you have available. The molds I used were a pack of two with 10 skull molds each. Each skull cavity measured about 1.7inch in length, 1.2 inches in width for each skull cavity. You can find the mold I used here.

How to store them:

You can store them in an airtight container for a couple of days on the counter or for up to two weeks in the fridge.

What kind of gelatin should I use?

Make sure you use gelatin and not collagen. Use a quality brand that sources from grass-fed animals. At the moment great lakes is a great brand (sometimes companies change their practices when they are acquired so it is important to stay up to date).

Can I use more or less honey?

Yes, you can. To play around with the sweetness you can adjust the amount of honey used. If you like things less sweet you can try less honey and taste the mixture before you pour it into the molds to adjust it to your preferred flavor. You can also add more honey if desired.

Do you crave sweets a lot? Desserts on occasion are great, but frequent cravings are a sign of blood sugar dysregulation. This can easily be fixed without deprivation and restriction. If you need help with this schedule a free discovery call to work together.
