Protein Shake “Buttermilk”

I am a huge fan of whole foods and a balanced homemade meal for breakfast. But sometimes life gets busy and a protein shake in the morning can be a helpful way to get in the nutrients you need in a quick way. We probably all have experienced the scenario of rushing out of the house without eating anything, and not too long after we start our day with croissants or donuts because we cannot control our hunger. Protein drinks are a great way to avoid that and keep your blood sugar levels balanced.

This protein shake has a lot of goodies:

  • healthy fats (coconut milk)
  • vitamins, antioxidants, and fiber (raspberries)
  • protein

When choosing a protein powder make sure you go over the ingredient list thoroughly. The fewer ingredients, the better. I personally use the unflavored version of the Myers Way Paleo Protein, which is pure beef protein, and so far I really like it. If you are taking supplements in powdered form, shakes are also a great way to “hide” them in. I have tried l-glutamine powder in my shake and it tastes delicious. Always make sure to talk to your doctor before taking any supplements.

This protein shake tastes like buttermilk, so creamy and delicious. I use coconut milk because I love and I can’t tolerate any other milk. But feel free to use the milk of your choice. The combination of raspberries with this drink makes it taste really yummy. You can use any fruit that you have at home though. When consuming berries always opt for organic ones, since they have high levels of pesticide residue. For more information check out the environmental working groups guide for shoppers.

It takes 2 minutes to make this drink, all you need is a blender and you are good to go. Drink it on the spot or take it with you in an upcycled mason jar to go.

Happy blending
